Because the wounds are not visible.

You can’t see the damage, but you sure as heck can feel it.

So today I’m going to show you 5 signs that may mean you have PTSD from emotional abuse.

But first, let’s talk about how you can get PTSD from emotional abuse…

What kinds of emotional abuse cause PTSD?

Here’s a list…

How you can get PTSD from emotional abuse

Here are some things that can cause PTSD from emotional abuse.

If you’re unsure whether or not you have PTSD, check out this free checklist where you can identify for yourself the symptoms you’re feeling from emotional abuse.

Here are types of emotional abuse that can cause PTSD:

  1. Yelling
  2. Name calling
  3. Insulting you
  4. Cause you to question your own sanity
  5. Invading your privacy
  6. Punishing you for not going along with what they want

  8. Keeping you away and isolating you from family and friends
  9. Making subtle or obvious threats

So, have you been exposed to any these?

And do you feel some of these symptoms?

If so, it might mean that you have PTSD from emotional abuse.

Okay, now let’s dive into the 5 signs that may mean that you have PTSD from emotional abuse.

SIGN 1 – You’re constantly filled with fear, guilt, or shame

The first sign that you might have PTSD from emotional abuse is if you’re constantly filled with fear, guilt, or shame.

Many times people who suffer from emotional abuse are always afraid…

They always have anxiety and fear that something will go wrong.

You can never seem to relax, and your brain is constantly running and scanning for threats.

This is an extremely hard place to be, it’s how I lived for most of my life.

On top of all the fear you probably feel an intense feeling that you’re always doing something wrong, that you can’t do anything right, and you feel an extreme sense of guilt for everything…

You probably even know that you shouldn’t feel guilty, but you always feel as though you’re being blamed for everything.

If you’re experiencing these feelings it could mean that you have PTSD from emotional abuse.

SIGN 2 – You’re jumpy, twitchy, or always “on edge” around people

The second sign that you might have PTSD from emotional abuse is if you’re jumpy, twitching, or always feeling “on edge”.

This one is similar to the first, but a little more obvious to identify…

Jumping at sounds or sudden movements is a telltale sign of PTSD.

It doesn’t even have to be loud sounds, they can be as subtle at someone dropping a pencil.

When my PTSD was at its worse it seemed as though everything would make me jump and twitch with fear.

There was even a time when I was driving and a piece of paper flew up and hit my windshield…I nearly jumped out of my skin…a small piece of paper scared the daylights out of me.

If you’re experiencing anything like this, then it’s likely you have PTSD.

And there’s one thing I want you to understand too…

If you are experiencing any of these signs, do not beat yourself up for feeling them.

These are all normal responses to abnormal and destructive events in your life.

Do your best to learn how to love yourself through the process…if you want to learn more about how to love yourself click here to read an article I wrote on it.

SIGN 3 – You have uncontrollable thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks about the emotional abuse

The third sign that you might have PTSD from emotional abuse is if you’re having uncontrollable thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks about the abuse you’ve been through.

Are you constantly thinking about certain past abusive events that happened?

Re-living the screaming, yelling, or name calling?

This can happen in a few different ways.

You can simply just not be able to stop replaying the event in your mind, you just go over it again and again and again…

And every time you think about it you feel more fear, anger, sadness, and guilt.

Or you could be reliving the abuse through flashbacks during the day, or night terrors at night.

If you’re experiencing any of these things then there is a high chance that you have PTSD from emotional abuse.

SIGN 4 – You feel emotionally numb, lifeless, or “out of reality”

The fourth sign that you might have PTSD from emotional abuse is if you feel emotionally numb, lifeless, or “out of reality.

Have you ever felt that feeling where you feel like you’re not even living your life?

Like you’re just observing your life…maybe like a movie or a videogame?

This happens when your brain gets completely overloaded and it pretty much just shuts down.

You feel numb, lifeless, and reality doesn’t seem real anymore.

What this is technically called is “dissociation”.

This overwhelmed and overloaded feeling is an extremely common sign of PTSD.

Maybe you feel like this on a daily basis.

You might be exposed to abusive environments every single day that make you feel this overwhelmed feeling.

If you do, it not only means that you’re in an extremely toxic and dangerous environment…but that you need to get yourself out of there as soon as humanly possible.

SIGN 5 – You’re easily triggered to extreme anger and often regret it

The fifth sign that might mean you have PTSD from emotional abuse is if you’re easily triggered to extreme levels of anger and often regret it afterwards.

Have you gotten extremely angry at people in the blink of an eye?

And then afterwards you wonder why you’ve lashed out so badly?

This is extremely common with people who have PTSD, and many times it’s followed by an extreme feeling of guilt and shame.

Most of the time you don’t know why you got so angry, but it’s not your fault…

It’s because of the past abuse you’ve been through.

The first thing I want to tell you is that there is a way to heal PTSD and regain control of your life for good.

This is the most important thing you can learn.

There is a path to full recovery from PTSD.

Emotional abuse is one of the hardest things to go through because it’s all mental.

It’s easy to make excuses for your abuser, and to allow yourself to stay in these dangerous situations.

I know because I’ve been there.

There will also be people out there in the world that will tell you that PTSD recovery is impossible.

Many people told me the same thing…

I had PTSD for 17 years of my life.

I went to doctors, therapists, and “specialists” and all of them told me I had to live with my PTSD forever.

So…how do you do it then?

How can you make a full recovery from PTSD?

These were the exact questions I used to ask myself…

It took me years of painful trial and error, and tens of thousands of dollars to find the path.

I went to therapist after therapist and tried everything known to man…

And after years of effort a sense clarity washed over me.

With information from all these different sources I was able to discover a process.

A process that I used to make my full recovery…

Later I showed this process to others and I discovered something incredible…

This process doesn’t just work on me, it’s worked on hundreds of others too…
