Today I’m going to share with you the top 10 PTSD books.
These are all books that I’ve read multiple times, and they’ve made the biggest impact on my life and on my recovery.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Kayleen and I personally suffered with CPTSD for over 15 years and now no longer do.
Now what I do is help people all over the world recover from their own PTSD and CPTSD.
Books can be the biggest catalyst for change.
They give you new perspectives and insights…and help you become aware of things that you never would have otherwise.
Many of the books I’m going to show you today aren’t even related to PTSD…
So you’re probably wondering…
“Why are you showing me books that aren’t about PTSD?”
Here’s why…
Most of the PTSD books out there actually hurt you and make things worse.
They are overly complicated, high level, and scientific, and don’t actually give practical steps to heal.
…or they go into extremely detailed stories about traumatic events…which may be an interesting storyline, but not very helpful if you’re looking to recover.
The following list is a series of books that has been integral when I was recovering from my own PTSD.
These books are ones that I actually used along my own PTSD recovery journey.
I’m not a book reviewer, I am a practical reader who actually had PTSD and used the techniques and principles in these books to make a full recovery from my own PTSD.
Why are you reading? And what are you looking to master?
When reading you always want to read with a purpose.
You want to be reading a book that will solve a specific problem that you’re facing in your life right now.
So, first you must learn the 3 areas that you need to be working on in order to heal your PTSD for good.
Here they are…
When it comes to healing your PTSD there are 3 pillars that must be mastered.
The first step for most people is to master your mindset.
And this is actually one of the most challenging ones to face, which is why many of the books below are targeted towards mastering your mindset.
Most people with PTSD have a hard time just getting out of bed to take action…I know this was my biggest problem.
I had a mindset that, no matter how hard I tried, it just tore me right back down to zero.
So, while you read through this list make sure to ask yourself if it will help you with a specific challenge you’re currently facing…don’t just read it because I liked it…read it because it will solve a specific problem in your life right now.
Without further ado, let’s jump into the first book for PTSD Recovery!
The first PTSD book I recommend to everyone I meet is “3 Amazing Relief Tools For PTSD Anxiety”.
It’s actually a book that I wrote myself.
The reason why I recommend this first is because it gives you the exact tools to get you relief on demand.
When you first discover you have PTSD, you have no idea about how to calm yourself down, or get relief.
You feel completely controlled and dominated by your PTSD…
There are no books out there that teach you effective relief tools for PTSD…trust me I’ve gone through dozens and dozens of books.
So, I took the top 3 tools that you need to get relief fast.
If you don’t know how to get relief from your symptoms then you won’t be able to function, focus, or even live your life.
The first step for you is to learn the right tools so you can actually start living part of your life again, and regain some control.
No, these tools won’t fix everything, but they will give you some peace of mind and freedom.
I want this information to be available for everyone, so I’m giving it away for free…I just ask you help me cover the shipping fees.

The second PTSD book that I recommend everyone to read is “Getting Past Your Past” By Francine Shapiro.
Francine Shapiro is the founder and creator of EMDR therapy…
She really knows what she’s talking about.
In this book, Dr. Shapiro tells you why you feel the way you feel, and gives you insight into how to eliminate these symptoms for good.
This book will give you practical steps towards healing, and also give you one of the most important things…hope.
You’ll hear amazing stories about how people have used EMDR therapy to overcome seemingly impossible and incredible things.

The next book I recommend for PTSD recovery is “Awaken The Giant Within” By Tony Robbins.
This is a classic self help book where Tony walks you through steps to make long lasting mindset changes.
The most important shift this book will give you is in your beliefs.
When you read this you’ll learn the exact steps needed to change the belief “PTSD recovery is impossible” to “I can live a life free of PTSD”.
This is one of the most powerful transformations that you could ever make.
And for that reason I highly recommend you buy and read this book.

The fourth PTSD book I recommend is “The 10X Rule” By Grant Cardone.
This book is simply incredible, some of you might love Grant’s style, some of you might hate it…
But either way Grant Cardone will get you pumped up, motivated, and teach you ONE thing…
How to take massive action.
If you have trouble getting yourself to get moving and to take action, then this is the book for YOU.
This was a foundational book that taught me how much action I needed to take to get results.
Honestly, all these books are must reads in my opinion, but this one is particularly good.

The fifth PTSD book I recommend is “The Power Of Now” By Eckhart Tolle.
This is a spiritual book, but you don’t have to be spiritual to get incredible life altering changes from it.
In “The Power Of Now” Eckhart shows you how to be more present, aware, and in the moment.
He shows you how to detach from your mind and really start living in reality again.
You will actually feel different just by reading this book…more aware, present, and alive.
If you have trouble separating from your thoughts, of feel like you have no control over your mind whatsoever, this book is perfect for you.

The sixth PTSD book I recommend is “The Compound Effect” By Darren Hardy.
This book is another incredible foundational book for your mindset.
Darren shows you what it really takes to be successful in any area of life.
You learn that you have to put in a lot of effort upfront before you see any results…this is just the simple reality of how life works.
What most people do is work and work and work, but then they quit right before they see any tangible progress in their PTSD recovery.
You’ll learn how to keep going through these rough patches…and really you discover a way to make them not even happen.

The seventh PTSD book I recommend is “Think And Grow Rich” By Napoleon Hill.
This book is absolutely incredible and essential to create a strong mindset.
Napoleon goes through the laws of success in any area of life, and even goes into how to visualize so you can make real lasting change.
One aspect of PTSD recovery that most people don’t touch on is your mindset, and if there’s one book on mindset that you should read it’s this.
This really is a great jumping off point for anyone who is looking to develop their mental strength and fortitude.
This book has been a bestseller since it’s first printing in 1937.

The eighth PTSD book I recommend is “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Give In” By Louis Zamperini.
For those of you who don’t know Louis Zamperini here’s a quick background on him…he has an absolutely incredible and inspiring story.
Louis was an olympic athlete, a World War II POW, a best selling author, and also had PTSD.
This book is Louis’ life story written in his words, there’s nothing detailed or graphic, it mainly outlines lessons he learned from his life.
Louis had an extreme case of PTSD and overcame it through the power of god.
Now, that last sentence might turn some of you off, but whether or not you believe in god you will gain invaluable lessons from this book.
The thing is, even if you don’t believe in god the truth is that Louis did fully recover from his PTSD, and you get to learn what went on in his brain as he lived his life and recovered.
Definitely an amazing book to read!

The ninth PTSD book I recommend is “Buddha’s Brain” By Rick Hanson.
Rick does an incredible job helping you build awareness within your mind.
The first step to recovering from PTSD is becoming aware of the mental and physical processes that are occuring.
In this book you become more and more aware of the internal and external aspects of your life that cause you to suffer…but most importantly it shows you how you can end that suffering for good.
Truly an inspiring read!

The last PTSD book I recommend is “Mindfulness” By Mark Williams.
This book is another great read to help you become more mindful, present, and aware of your mental and physical states.
Like I said before, developing a deeper and deeper sense of awareness is essential for full recovery, and this is another great book to help build that “awareness muscle”.

However, there’s not a single book out there that shows you the exact process on how to fully recover from PTSD.
So…how do you do it then?

These were the exact questions I used to ask myself…
It took me years of painful trial and error, and tens of thousands of dollars to find the path.

And after years of effort a sense clarity washed over me.
With information from all these different sources I was able to discover a process.
A process that I used to make my full recovery…
Later I showed this process to others and I discovered something incredible…
This process doesn’t just work on me, it’s worked on hundreds of others too…
